What this site can and cannot tell you

Two garage doors that make the same noise can need completely different work. The age and weight of the door, the type and condition of the springs, the cables, rollers and tracks, the opener and its safety sensors, past repairs and how the door was installed all change what the right fix is. Nothing on this site is an inspection, an engineering or wind-load determination, or a recommendation for your specific door. A technician's on-site look is the only way to know whether you need a spring, a cable, an opener part, or a new door.

Cost ranges

The cost figures on our service and guide pages are planning ranges for typical projects in Ocala, Marion County, The Villages and Lady Lake, Florida. They are not quotes and they are not a price guarantee. Costs move with the size and weight of the door, single or paired springs, the opener model, parts availability for an older door, access, the wind-load rating a new door needs, and permits. Your written estimate is the price.

Hurricane and wind ratings

Nothing on this site tells you what design pressure your home's garage door opening requires or whether an existing door is rated for it. That depends on your home's location, exposure, roof height and door size, and is confirmed on the door's label, its Florida Product Approval and the building permit for the installation. A door that is "hurricane-rated" reduces the chance of failure; it does not guarantee it. Grant programs such as My Safe Florida Home have their own eligibility rules and funding limits, which change from year to year.

Results and warranties

No guaranteed outcome. How long a garage door and opener last depends on how many times a day they cycle, the weather, humidity and salt in the air, lightning and power surges, maintenance, and whether anything hits the door. Good parts and a proper installation give you the best chance; they do not change the weather or the cycle count. Any warranty that applies to your project is the one written into the signed agreement with the contractor performing the work. Manufacturer warranties have their own terms and registration requirements.

Who does the work. Projects that come through this site are performed by independent contractors. Our referral marketing disclosure explains how that works and how they are paid.

Errors and updates

We keep this site current, but details change and mistakes happen. If you find something that looks wrong or out of date, tell us and we will correct it.

Emergencies

A garage door is the heaviest moving object in most homes, and the springs and cables are under extreme tension. If a spring has snapped, a cable has let go, or the door is hanging crooked, do not try to lift or force it, do not pull the red emergency release with the door open, and keep people, pets and cars clear of it. If anyone is trapped or injured, or a door has fallen on a vehicle with someone inside, call 911 first. Then call us.
